London, April 28 (ANI): Sitcom Ugly Betty was named outstanding comedy series for the second year in a row at the 19th annual Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation Media Awards.
Brothers & Sisters, bagged the award for outstanding drama at the Kodak Theatre ceremony on April 26.
Both ABC series, which received the same prize last year as well, feature prominent gay or transsexual regular characters.
Ugly Betty features flamboyantly gay assistant Marc St James, played by Michael Urie, and transsexual editor Alexis Meade (Rebecca Romijn).
Brothers & Sisters follows the love life of gay lawyer Kevin, played by Matthew Rhys.
Janet Jackson and Rufus Wainwright received honours for their efforts in fighting discrimination.
Comic Kathy Griffin bagged an award for her reality TV show My Life on the D-List. (ANI)
