frank-mir Sep 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Mir Frank opts for an ugly win to an ugly loss. Therefore, by all hook and crook, he decided to give the final event of UFC 119, an ugly turn, by violently knocking out Croatian striker Mirko Filipovic right in the end of the match.

The match, which was otherwise not so exciting ended up with violence when Frank Mir pulled down Mirko Filipovic’c head, and kneed him on his chin. Mir Filipovic was grounded, as Frank Mir harshly started hitting him from the top continuously, until referee Herb Dean, intervened and stopped the game while only 58 seconds were left for the game to get over. Mirko Filipovic, who almost collapsed by the end of the game with several hard shots from Frank Mir, had no clue about what happened in the end. He simply went numb and dropped to 27-8-2. Frank Mir won with the score of 14-5.

The funniest part of this match was, right from the beginning, no significant action took place between the two players. Struggling to find their rhythm all through out the fight, they were constantly being separated by the referee for their wrong moves. They literally kept standing, strategizing for the right move at the right time. The violent action was only visible by the end of the game.

Mirko Filipovic, who has a remarkable takedown defense, initially gave a tough time to Frank Mir against the cage. Frank Mir, who has been constantly defeated this year, desperately required a victory, by hook or crook and this match made him a winner after several consistent knock outs. This was Mirko Filipovic’s second loss in the last four fights, which brought him down to a 3-2 record, since he joined UFC in 2009.
