Aug 9, (THAINDIAN NEWS) After the completion of the UFC 117 fight event, the company announced the bonuses during the post-fight press conference. The bonuses worth $60,000 were presented to the fighters who undoubtedly made the UFC 117 combats a memorable one. The fighters and the fights that received the bonuses were Stefan Struve who won the “Knockout of the Night Award” and Matt Hughes, who won “Submission of the Night” bonus along with Anderson Silva. The “Fight of the Night” bonus aptly went to the Chael Sonnen and Anderson Silva fight which no doubt turned out to be one of the most surprising one.

Undoubtedly the bonuses were awarded to fighters who made the UFC 117 a worth watch. Stefan Struve won the “Knockout of the Night Award” for his brilliant come-from-behind knockout of heavyweight Christian Morecraft. He won due to stoppage in the second round itself after he landed a right to the face of Christian Morecraft. Matt Hughes’ amazing but deadly triangle choke on Ricardo Almeida from a different angle made him a worthy recipient of “submission of the night” bonus which he shared with Anderson Silva. Anderson Silva clung to his middleweight title by going for a triangle choke towards the end of the fifth round.

As for the “Fight of the Night” bonus, there is no doubt about the fact that Anderson Silva and Chael Sonnen fight stole the show on Saturday night. While Chael Sonnen came up with some great fight in the first four rounds, the fifth round brought the fight to a dramatic end with the triangle choke of Chael Sonnen by the king of middleweight. Both the players received a bonus of $60,000 for their play.
