Los Angeles, Aug 6(ANI): A 49-year-old retired boxer is suing American boxing legend Mike Tyson for 115 million dollars, claiming that the former heavyweight champion stole his “Iron Mike” nickname 25 years ago.

Mike Landrum said he had coined the nickname before beginning his professional career in 1983.

The 49-year-old has filed a lawsuit in a Los Angeles federal court, claiming that he owns the trademark to “Iron Mike”, and Tyson infringed on his rights by using the nickname throughout his boxing career, TMZ.com reports.

Landrum, who’s representing himself in the case, said that he was “hindered from getting any major title fights or sponsorships because of the name confusion”.

Meanwhile, Tyson’s representative, Tammy Brook, said that the legal team is confident that the case holds no merit.

Tyson is one of the most prolific boxers in the history of the sport, boasting 50 wins and 44 knockouts in 58 career fights.

Landrum, on the other hand, finished his professional career at 6-4. (ANI)
