Tremlett earns ECB incremental contract following Ashes heroics
January 26th, 2011 - 3:36 pm ICT by ANILondon, Jan 26(ANI): The England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) has rewarded fast bowler Chris Tremlett with an incremental contract for the 2010-11 international season following his impressive tour of Australia.
Tremlett has played in three Tests and three ODI so far in the ongoing trip Down Under.
“We are delighted with Chris’s contribution in both forms of the game this winter,” the BBC quoted England selector Geoff Miller, as saying.
Incremental contracts are one step down from a full central contract and are appearance based.
The 29-year-old was seen as a surprise choice when the Test team to tour Australia was named.
However, he took his chance after Stuart Broad’s injury, taking 17 wickets in the last three Tests of England’s stunning 3-1 Ashes victory.
Incremental contracts are awarded on a points basis, with 20 points needed for a player to earn a deal.
Five points are awarded for a Test appearance and two for a Twenty20 or ODI cap. (ANI)
