Chennai, Mar 20(ANI): England off-spinner James Tredwell, who took 4-48 against West Indies in their World Cup group match, has said that he was frustrated and was wondering if he would ever get a chance in the six-week tournamnet in the Indian sub-continent.

Tredwell remained on the sidelines for England’s first five matches, but was named man of the match in Chennai.

“Frustration does come into it when you’re not playing, but equally there are people in front of you who have performed consistently. I’ve tried to use my time here to improve as a cricketer and then hopefully perform when my chance came. It stood me in good stead,” the Sun quoted Tredwell, as saying.

“Not having taken a wicket in my three previous one-day matches increased the pressure on myself. I’d not done as well as I’d liked. And I was concerned I wouldn’t even get a match especially as I’d been here a while.”

“But as a spinner in this part of the world with the turning pitches I knew I could get the nod,” he added.

The off-spinner further dreams of helping Andrew Strauss’ team on their rollercoaster run all the way to the final. (ANI)
