Los Angeles, Sept 27 (THAINDIAN NEWS) St. Louis Rams’ wide receiver Torrey Smith is counting on his debut performance to prove to the world that he can play. The rookie caught touchdown passes from team mate Joe Flacco on Sunday night as the team was beaten by 37-7 in their match against the Baltimore Ravens.

The Rams have had the worst possible start that they could dream of. Their defense seems non-existent giving opposing offense players free days. The team has lost their first three games in the season and Smith was thrown in the game to help salvage something.

He failed to change the fortunes of the team because the Rams again lost the game. After the game, Smith was confident of his performance and what it could do to his career. He told reporters that, “I’ve been playing football forever and I’ve been making plays forever. Having a game like this, it proves to other people that haven’t seen me play, it lets them know I can play.”

The team is however confident that they will get better as the season progresses. Safety Quintin Mikell assured the team’s fans that, “It’s not necessarily time to panic, but we definitely need to get better quickly.”
