Top-10 finish for Jeev at Volvo China Open

Chengdu (China), April 24 (IANS) Jeev Milkha Singh came up with three birdies in the last five holes to haul himself up to tied-10th place in the Volvo China Open Sunday. Jeev played four-under 68 to finish at 17-under at the Luxehills International Country Club.

India’s other challenger over the weekend, Shiv Kapur (70), finished at eight-under 276 with five birdies and three bogeys to tie for 59th.

Belgian Nicolas Colsaerts cantered to his first European Tour win by four shots with a six-under 66 in the final round and 24-under 264 total. Four players, Pablo Martin, Soren Kjeldsen (66), Peter Lawrie (68) and Danny Lee (65) shared second place.

Jeev had five birdies, three in last five holes, and two bogeys.

“I think I played well this week. The birdies not falling in the third round made the difference, but I am being patient because the game is coming around,” said Jeev.

Colsaerts birdied the first, third and seventh and then had three birdies in four holes from the 12th. Martin had first 10 birdies and one bogey in his 63.
