Seattle, Oct 7, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The world of American football has faced another blow with the recent death of Tony Fein on the 6th of October, 2009. The sudden death of the football star took place in Port Orchard, Wash on Tuesday early in the morning. Fein was admitted in the Harrison Medical Center before his death but there is still no news about the cause behind his death. There have been unconfirmed reports that Fein was keeping ill as he was facing some health related problems.
Milton D. Hobbs, Tony Fein’s agent, told the media that the whole incident was “extremely sad”. He also informed the media that he was in touch with Fein’s family and some of his friends. He went on to mention that they “don’t want to speculate on the cause of death right now out of respect for his family.” Fein’s coach, D.J. Sigurdson also said that the news was very shocking and he just “can’t believe it.”
Tony Fein’s fans will know that before joining the Baltimore Ravens as a linebacker, Fein was in the American army. In fact, he was a veteran of the Iraq war. In one of his interviews Fein said talked of the similarity between football and military service. Fein mentioned “Being in the military really was a life-changing experience, it’s kind of similar to football. Everyone has to do their exact job. It’s the same thing in the military. The Army is the ultimate team, and that falls right in line with football.” Fein had received the Pat Tillman award, an award which is presented to college sports persons who have fought in the war.
Fein was in news a few days back, in late August this year, because of all the wrong reasons. He was alleged to possess a gun which in reality turned out to be his cell phone. However, he was charged with misdemeanor assault on a police officer.
