Nov.20(THAINDIAN NEWS) Tobias Harris has announced that he has been signed on by the Tennessee Volunteers for the next year. The basketball player who stands tall at 6 foot eight inches and strong at 220 pounds is tagged as one of the most promising college players and rated America’s No.5 by Rivals.com. He also ranks 7th in the ESPN 100. He hails from Half Hollow Hills West High School and is in his senior year. He is the third one it have been signed on by the Tennessee Volunteers this year, the other two being Jordan McRae of Midway and Trae Golden from Powder Springs.
Harris chose the Tennessee Volunteers over the wide range of choices he had been offered by Kentucky, Syracuse, Georgia Tech, Louisville, West Virginia and Maryland. He currently plays with the Rivals. He announced live on ESPNU that he would be playing with the University of Tennessee team from next year. He had signed the letter of intention Thursday after he was taken on a guided tour of the campus.
Harris feels that he liked the cosy, homely atmosphere of the University. He commented that the coach of the team, Bruce Pearl is an easy person to be with and that he could talk to him about anything. The forward feels hat it is a great opportunity for him as he could blend in well with the other players. The Volunteers weren’t sure which position Harris would be playing in. It is certainly an advantage that he can hold five positions, is a versatile scorer and a great re-bounder.
