TNA greats interact with Punjab’s budding wrestlers
July 21st, 2010 - 10:35 pm ICT by IANSZirakpur (Punjab), July 21 (IANS) Total Nonstop Action (TNA) wrestling’s stalwarts Kurt Angle, Mick Foley and Jay Lethal interacted with budding wrestlers here Wednesday evening, and gave them some useful tips to remain fit.
These prominent wrestlers were here as part of their six-day promotional trip to hunt for the TNA wrestling superstar from India. Before coming to Punjab, they had visited Delhi, Mumbai and Hyderabad.
“India has always been an important market for us. Taking our commitment towards the India audiences a step further we are happy to announce the hunt for the Indian TNA star,” said Dan Steverson, director of international marketing, TNA wrestling, while talking to reporters here Wednesday.
He added: “TNA wrestling is honoured to work in conjunction with ESPN Star sports in bringing TNA beyond the television screen to our fans in India.”
Kurt Angle, who remained busy talking to young wrestlers most of the time, said: “We are extremely energized about our visit to this beautiful country which has a great potential for the budding wrestling talent. We have met some wrestling fanatics, body builders and school kids across different towns. In fact, it has also been a great learning experience for us.”
“We are also confident of getting huge entries for this prestigious hunt in the wrestling world as it is one of the most followed sports in India,” Angle said.
Talking about the popularity of Indian wrestler the Great Khali, Jay Lethal said: “He is a great wrestler, who has achieved really big in this field. Though I have not met him so far, but still I am a big fan of his skills and attitude.”
Even the budding wrestlers were quite enthusiastic while meeting their favourite TV stars.
“It was a dream come true for me. I will surely send my entry and try my level best win this opportunity,” said Gurmeet Singh, a 21-year-old wrestler.
