Titles for Rawat, Varsha in National Cue Sports

Pune, Jan 21 (IANS) Delhi’s Laxman Rawat scored two back to back wins in the semi-final league to claim the junior snooker title, while Varsha Sanjeev of Karnataka annexed the girls sub-junior billiards crown in the Manisha Constructions National billiards and snooker championship here Saturday.

Rawat defeated top seed and defending champion Lalrina Renthlei of Mizoram 4-1 and then overcame State-mate Lalit Dahiya 4-2 to top the league on frame difference.

Rawat, who won two matches, had a frame difference of plus-7 (11-4) while Andhra’s Himanshu Jain finished second (plus-1) and Renthlei, also with two victories, had a zero difference to end up third ahead of Dahiya who lost his three matches.

In the girls sub-junior girls billiards final, holder Varsha Sanjeev beat Delhi’s Keerat Bhandal 165-116 to take the title.

In the semi-finals, Varsha outplayed local girl Arya Pimpale 191-87, while Bhandal got past Andhra’s Lahari Singapra 110-78.
