dav1Pontiac, Jan 30, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The highly anticipated bout between Timothy Bradley and his fellow American opponent Devon Alexander reached its conclusion with the former’s victory through an unanimous technical decision. The fight that was held on Saturday witnessed a tough showdown between the two defending champions but ultimately things went in favor of Timothy Bradley, who defended his WBO 140-pound title with much elan. The win was all the more special for the American boxer as he also registered his opponent’s WBC belt after the fight was stopped by the referee in the tenth round owing to an accidental head butt.

Following the head butting incident in the tenth round, Devon Alexander was not able to continue with the bout and the decision ultimately went to the judges scorecards. All the three judges Duane Ford, Tom Miller as well as Omar Mintun gave the scores in favor of Timothy Bradley with 97-93, 96-95 and 98-93 scores respectively. Ring doctor Peter Samet emphasized that there was no other option other than stopping the bout as Devon Alexander could not even open his eyes properly following the accidental head butt and so he was concerned that the American boxer might have injured one of his nerve’s and his eye was paralyzed.

However, after the fight was stopped in the tenth round, Timothy Bradley was left rather disappointed as he went on complaining while stomping around the ring. He was not the only one dismayed at the sudden halt of the bout as the 6,247 fans gathered at the Pontiac Silverdome booed the decision as well. Later, when Timothy Bradley was announced as the winner, he surely heaved a sigh of relief.
