Time to go back to the drawing board: Dutch captain

New Delhi, Feb 28 (IANS) Dutch captain Peter Borren called for a review of strategy after his team suffered a 215-run defeat against the West Indies in a World Cup Group B match here Monday.
The Dutch had put up an ordinary show against England but failed to live up to the expectations they raised after posting a big total batting first.
Borren, however, defended his decision of bowling first.
“We will obviously have to sit down and analyse what went wrong,” said Borren at the post-match press conference.
“We certainly have more potential than the way we played today. We have to forget about this game and prepare for the upcoming matches.”
Asked whether he made a mistake by putting West Indies in, he said: “We thought batting in the evening would be easier but the way we played today, we would have lost the game anyway.”
Borren attributed the loss to the lack of consistency in the batting and bowling departments.
“The problem for us in the last game was that Ryan (ten Doeschate) batted well and in this Tom (Cooper) did a good job. But in both the matches there was not enough support for them. We need to play well as a team and that is the only way we can win.”
Borren praised West Indies fast bowler Kemar Roach, who ran through the Ducth batting order, taking six wickets, including a hat-trick, to close the match.
“It was not a fast pitch but Kemar bowled really well. He is a quick bowler and he wiped out the tail in no time. There are other bowlers like him in the tournament and we will have to learn to play them better.”
The team plays formidable South Africa in their next match in Mohali Thursday.
