Tim Lincecum Shines Against Atlanta Braves

Game one of the National League Division between the San Francisco Giants and the Atlanta Braves had some surprises in store for the fans as Tim Lincecum proved that he is here to conquer the post-season series. The low scoring game ended in favor of the San Francisco Giants but experts feel that the highlight of the game was the debutant Tim Lincecum. With a performance that is sure to go down in history books as one of the best in recent years on a debut, Tim Lincecum pitched a two hitter and struck out a whopping 14. the energy of the youngster and his undaunted mettle made the Atlanta Braves so weary of him that his last 92 mph pitch up in the zone was let past by Derrek Lee.
The San Francisco Giants manager, Bruce Bochy, spoke after the match and said that they were looking for an edge and Tim Lincecum provided just that. The start to the post season has been a welcome one for the San Francisco Giants as they play in the post season for the first time since 2003. Bruce Bochy also said that it was a fantastic effort by Tim Lincecum, something that he had never seen before.
With the performance Tim Lincecum broke quite a few records in the post season. He became the second pitcher in MLB history to retire (strike out) 10 or more and allow two hits or fewer in a shutout postseason. His 14 strike outs also tied for third most in post season shutout. He also became he first pitcher to throw a 1-0 shutout in his post season debut.
