Tiger Woods to get ‘rock star’ treatment during Melbourne visit

Melbourne, Oct. 18 (ANI): Golfing great Tiger Woods can expect rock star treatment when he visits Melbourne to play in the Australian Masters.
The Sunday Telegraph reports that Woods can expect private jets, front-row seats to a Broadway musical, VIP security, a gala dinner worth 60,000- dollar-a-table, world-class restaurants, top-secret accommodation and an itinerary to rival a US president.
This is the four million dollar red carpet being laid out by Australian golf officials for the world’s greatest sportsman.
Woods will arrive in Melbourne next month for the Australian Masters. It will be his first visit here in 11 years and no expense has been spared to make him feel welcome.
In 1997, as a 21-year-old, the budding champion played the Masters at Melbourne’s Huntingdale for a 300,000-dollar appearance fee. He then turned up jet-lagged after his flight was delayed for nine hours in Thailand.
But it’s unlikely Woods will encounter similar problems when he flies into Tullamarine aboard his private jet in 22 days.
“If you’ve seen me at a golf tournament, you know how big a crowd I attract,’ Woods has said.
Tickets for the Masters sold out two weeks ago, with the level of interest unprecedented.
Officials are expecting 25,000 fans to follow Woods’ every move over the four days.
Requiring only 1000 seats of grandstand scaffolding last year, organisers have been forced to cater for 6000 seats this time around.
However, the gallery-throng hoping to get up close and personal with the world No1 will need luck.
His arrival is being given almost presidential status.
Woods will use the same security company that protects former No1 Greg Norman during his regular visits to Australia.
Woods will fly into Melbourne on November 9. (ANI)
