In his statement, which was also released on Sunday, Tiger Woods said that he expects the people to respect his privacy, as it is a hard time for him and his family.
He wrote that he understood that the people and the media especially wanted details, but he wanted to keep it strictly as a family matter only. He said that the incident and the subsequent publicity that it got has been very stressful and a cause of tension for the whole family including the top notch golfer Tiger Woods himself, so he wanted privacy in the matter as it is also a personal issue for them, and not for the media consumption.
He clarified in just 1 matter and laid all rumors to rest, regarding his accident. He said that only he was himself responsible for the accident and not anybody else, which was an indirect reference to his wife Elin, who was being speculated as the cause behind the accident.
He said, “This is a private matter and I want to keep it that way. Although I understand there is curiosity, the many false, unfounded and malicious rumors that are currently circulating about my family and me are irresponsible,” Woods wrote. “The only person responsible for the accident is me. My wife, Elin, acted courageously when she saw I was hurt and in trouble. She was the first person to help me. Any other assertion is absolutely false.”
