nikeJan 24, (THAINDIAN NEWS) There still seems to be some hope left for Tiger Woods yet. On one hand, he has become one of the most scandalous personalities in golf, made even more phenomenal by the fact that he had earlier retained a squeaky clean image. Consequently, he has been forced to take an indefinite break from golf. His wife, Elin Nordegren has reportedly left him, and sponsors have been dropping him like hot coal. Not all though. Two of the companies, Nike and Entertainment Arts Incorporated, have chosen to steer clear of the path trodden by the likes of Gatorade, Accenture and Gillette, and stood by the disgraced golfer.

Nike has explained its continued relationship with Tiger Woods, stating that the association was not based on the personal life of the golfer, but on the fact that he was, and is, one of the biggest names in athletics. They have further stated that the private life of the man has no effect on his position as a great golfer, and that all the scandals do nothing to reduce his bankability, and that he continues to be the perfect face to represent the brand.

Particular mention must be made of Entertainment Arts Incorporated. They had earlier announced that they would be premiering a new game on the golfer, but on Thursday, Entertainment Sports announced that they would instead be making two games. One would be the latest version of the “Tiger Woods PGA Tour ‘11″, and the other one would be an online version. The decision is a significant one, as it will be marking the franchise’s debut in internet gaming.
