- Melbourne, Nov 14 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tiger Woods is currently a part of the JBWere Australian Masters 2009, which is being held this week in Melbourne.
The JBWere Australian Masters is co-sanctioned event between the Australasia and European Tours, and is also being run by Tiger Woods’ management company, IMG. Beyond the PGA Tour, top-notch players are allowed to accept appearance fees, and Tiger Woods was given a whooping $3 million just to show up at the JBWere Australian Masters 2009.
This $3 million came from 2 sources, $1.5 came from IMG and the other $1.5 came from the Australian Government itself.
$3 million was spent to lure into the tournament, and it was quiet an investment as around 25,000 people have been following Tiger Woods’ every move at Kingston Heath Golf Club over the previous five days. However Tiger Woods performance was quiet poor, not up to the mark. Tiger Woods hit one poor shot after another on a relatively easy day for scoring and in turn created opportunities for the other players. “It certainly should have been a lot worse than that,” Woods said.
“Didn’t hit the ball very good on the range, and on the golf course wasn’t very good, either,” Woods said. “I hit some really good shots out there, but also I hit some really terrible golf shots. There was no gray area. Very fortunate to be tied for the lead.”
