London, Dec 11 (ANI): A public relations expert has warned that the scandal surrounding professional golfer Tiger Woods has caused a tide of resentment that could eat him alive.
Woods’ website has been hit with many angry comments from fans and questions are arising as to why his management team has allowed the scandal to get out of control.
“You are such a piece of garbage . . . Good job wrecking your family, butthead,” Timesonline quoted one of hundreds of postings as stating.
“You are a laughing stock - just another arrogant athlete who thought he could get away with anything . . . your image was nothing but a fraud,” another posting said.
While some offered words of sympathy, prayers and support, others ranted that the man they had once idolised, not only for his perfection at golf but also for his clean “family guy” image, had turned out to be rather different.
“You let fame and power go right to your head . . . I loved you and rooted for you to win. I can’t say that I can do that any more. You are a fraud and a fake hero . . . Say it ain’t so Tiger, but spare us the lies,” another of the postings said.
The lack of protection from his agents, International Management Group, has caused marketing experts to express bewilderment at how they are letting things go so far.
“American people love the fall of the high and mighty, but they also love a comeback story,” Leigh Steinberg, a US sports agent, said.
“He needs to get out front with all the facts and make a public apology to the relevant people so the healing can begin and he can put this behind him, otherwise it will eat him alive,” Steinberg added. (ANI)
