Los Angeles, Nov 9 (THAINDIAN NEWS) Tiger Woods revealed on Tuesday that he has accepted the apology of former caddie Steve Williams. The two men met on Tuesday and shook hands for the first time since Williams cast racial slurs at the multi-PGA winner.

Woods was on the defense of Williams when he spoke at the Lakes Golf Club ahead of the start of the Australian Open. The 14-time major champion said that, “Stevie’s certainly not a racist.”

Woods admitted that the comments were out of place and did hurt him but he has forgiven his former caddie who was with him during 13 out of his 14 major championship wins.

Williams made the controversial comments in Shanghai last week during caddies’ awards party. After helping his new boss Adam Scott to the success at the WGC Bridgestone Invitational tournament, Williams announced at the party that he will like to shove the feat up Wood’s “black a——.”

Several personalities including Scott have condemned the comments. Williams seems to have his job on the line but Woods said “It was a comment that shouldn’t have been made and was certainly one that he wished he didn’t make.”

The PGA Tour and the European Tour have both said they will not sanction Williams for his comment.
