London, Feb. 25 (ANI): After his eight-month lay-off due to a knee surgery, Tiger Woods is back to action and feeling stronger than ever.
The 33-year-old golfing superstar will mark his comeback with the WGC-Accenture Match Play Championship his first tournament since winning the US Open last June.
The world No. 1 had reconstructive surgery on a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee days afterwards, The Sun reports.
Woods insists he is back in business as he takes on Australias Brendan Jones, the 64th and lowest-ranked player in the field.
Its great to be back. I feel a lot stronger in my left leg. Both legs have been stronger than they ever have been, he said.
The 14-time Major winner said he would be focusing on stability now.
Stability is something I havent had in years. Its nice to make a swing and not have my bones move. Since I had a lack of ACL for a number of years, no matter what I did, it was always moving. So Id try and hit into my left side but the more I did it, the more it would move. Its nice to be able to hit into it for the first time, he said.
The Golfer said he faced aplenty of discouragements in last several months but now he feels stronger than ever.
There was no doubt that I would come back. Discouragement, yeah, there was plenty of that, especially the first few months. Anyone whos been through an ACL reconstruction will tell you its not a whole lot of fun. But once you start feeling a little bit more explosive, a little more secure in the leg and the movements start coming back, you start seeing the light at the end of the tunnel, he said.
Woods believes the match-play element this week will help his comeback.
You need to find the rhythm of the round quickly and get into the flow. Match play helps that because it is like playing the final round of a tournament in every match, Woods said. (ANI)
