New Delhi, Aug 26 (IANS) India’s Vishnu Vardhan, Yuki Bhambri and Ranjeet Virali-Murugesan advanced to the quarterfinals of the $10,000 International Tennis Federation (ITF) tournament, at the DLTA complex here wednesday.
Top seed Vishnu, runners-up in the first of the three back-to-back tournament last week, defeated compatriot Vijayant Malik 6-4, 6-2. He set up a clash with seventh seed Peter Lucassen of Netherlands, who got the better of Johny Arcilla of the Philippines 6-0, 6-2.

Yuki, who is tunning up for the junior US Open Grand Slam, did not have to exert himself much as his second round American opponent Shane La Porte retired midway, complaining of illness. Yuki won the first set 6-2 and was leading 1-0 when La Porte conceded the match.

In the quarterfinal, the junior Australian Open Champion will face fifth seed Chris Eaton of Britain, who defeated compatriot Kyle Brassington 6-2, 6-2.

However, it was a tough match for Virali-Murugesan, who battled past Korean qualifier Seung-Jae Lee 6-3, 4-6, 7-6 (8). The eighth seeded Indian has run into another Korean — Kim Young-Jun, seeded third — in the next round.

In another quarterfinal, Australia’s K.Balakrishnan will take on Korean Jae-Won Choi after both got past Indian players in the second round.

Balakrishnan tamed Indian Vivek Shokeen 6-3, 6-3 while Choi defeated sixth seeded Rohan Gajjar 6-3, 2-6, 6-4.
