Sheffield, Jan 6 (IANS) Three Indians, Kush Kumar, Mahesh Mangaonkar and Deepika Pallikal, entered the final in their respective sections on the penultimate day of the British Open junior squash championship here.Kush Kumar was outstanding yet again in the boys under-13 category as he defeated the top seeded Omar El Atlas from Egypt 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 Monday.

He executed some spectacular shots, and his speed, movement and consistency helped him overcome his opponent with apparent ease.

In the boys under-15 section, Mahesh beat favourite Mazen Gamal of Egypt 7-11, 11-2, 11-9, 11-4.

The Indian was his cool and composed self, and this proved to be his strength as he reached his first British Open final with some clinical drives and drops.

In the girls under-19 section, Deepika played a repeat of last year’s under-17 final against Heba El Torky. It seemed she took off from where she left off, playing aggressive strokes and hitting winners at will for an 11-9, 14-12, 9-11, 14-12 win.

It was a struggle with both girls fighting for their space on court, but Deepika managed to hold off her opponent and win the match in a closely fought four games.

Boys U-13 - Kush Kumar bt Omar El Atlas ( Egy) 11-7, 11-7, 11-7 (25 mins)
