Three arrested over plot to blackmail Coleen Rooney
February 22nd, 2011 - 5:43 pm ICT by ANILondon, Feb.22 (ANI) Three people have been arrested over an alleged plot to blackmail Coleen Rooney, the wife of England and Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney.
Coleen was targeted after losing a camera phone at a concert that contained private pictures of her son 15-month-old son Kai. It is understood the three demanded a five-figure sum in return for the camera.
But police were tipped off and the trio was arrested in a sting operation, The Telegraph reports.
Coleen was with Wayne at a Black Eyed Peas gig at the MEN Arena in Manchester in May last year when she accidentally left the phone in a private box.
British Transport Police spokesperson said: “We are investigating an allegation of blackmail that was reported to us. We have arrested three people - a woman and two men - and they are currently on bail pending further inquiries.” (ANI)
