Thorpe helps struggling kids swim against the tide
November 27th, 2009 - 2:21 pm ICT by ANI ( Leave a comment )Melbourne, Nov.27 (ANI): Australian Olympic swimmer Ian Thorpe is doing his bit for struggling kids through his foundation.
According to The Daily Telegraph, recently visit in the country’s Northern Territory area to hand over hundreds of books to kids.
“For some of these kids it is the first book that they have seen,” Thorpe said.
The literacy backpack is one of his favourite programs carried out by the Fountain for Youth Foundation - the charity he set up as an 18 year old.
Conservation is another area in which Thorpe is keen to make a difference.
He has made two documentaries on the topic and will present the Environment Award at News Limited’s Pride of Australia Awards next Monday. (ANI)
