2009 New Orleans BowlDec.21, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The New Orleans Bowl for the year 2009 has seen the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles pitched against the Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders for the first time in the history of this game. With the game being currently held, The Golden Eagles have appeared for the fourth time in the tournament, with its second consecutive appearance. Whereas the second team of this game- The Blue Raiders, have only appeared a couple of times in The 2009 New Orleans Bowl, this game marking their second appearance.

Austin Davis, who plays as the quarterback for the Golden Eagles, was unavailable for the match due to his injuries, but this did not stop the team from giving a total offense of ‘more than 5,000 yards’. This pursuit of giving out such a huge offense has now continued for the team for the third consecutive season. Davis, after being injured, was replaced by Martevious Young, who turned out to be a surprise package, by ‘throwing 13 touchdowns’, where he was met by just a single interception. Young seems to have a great pair of legs, which apparently helped him to cover a distance of 270 yards.

USM also has its old player Damion Fletcher, who currently holds a number of records including the 937 yard rush and the season’s eight scores. He will soon be seen concluding his USM career, preferably after he completes his record of being FBS’s ninth player to complete the 1000 yard mark, not once but four times. The Blue Raiders have their veteran player, the ninth ranking, Dwight Dasher, who has thrown 21 touchdowns and for 2,627 yards.
