Dallas, Texas, Apr 12, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The Texas Stadium, the most favorite stadium of “Dallas Cowboys” fans was imploded yesterday in the presence of more than twenty thousand people. A ton of dynamite was all that was needed to bring down the ’stadium with the hole in the roof’ which was known for its illustrious history. Former players of the Dallas Cowboys were among those present at the site when the implosion took place. During the demolition process, approximately 30 seconds were required to destroy a million pounds of concrete and two and a half million pounds of steel. The Dallas Cowboys recalled the wonderful years during which they played at the stadium.
Mayor Herbert Gears of Irving said that the Texas Department of Transportation will convert the empty site of the stadium into a parking place for bulldozers, cranes and other equipment required for building roads. But construction of any building in the now empty place will take more than 5 to 6 years, said the mayor. Herbert Gears has further notified that he would want a lot of people to reside around the train station area where the stadium was located. Also if there is any residential area then there are bound to be retail shops, offices, etc. As per the mayor, it will now be his duty to look into the construction of the buildings on the stadium site.
The site of the imploded stadium is a very important location for Texas. It is the gateway between cities Dallas and Texas. So the construction of any building on the site would require special attention, feels the mayor. Meanwhile, the Texas Stadium, which had a capacity of 65,675, was home to the Dallas Cowboys until last season.
