Texas Quarterback Colt McCoy Wins 2009 Maxwell Award

Lake Buena Vista, Fla, Dec.11, (THAINDIAN NEWS) University of Texas quarterback Colt McCoy was honored on Thursday night as he won the much coveted Maxwell Award 2009. The Maxwell award is given out every year to give recognition to the top player of the college football in the United States. In order to boast the prestigious award, the 23 year old quarterback had to beat Alabama running back Mark Ingram and Florida senior quarterback Tim Tebow.
After receiving the honor, Colt McCoy who was visibly elated added that these recognition highlights the fact that work done by the player is respected. The player also emphasized that these awards signify that people do take notice of the kind of game that is displayed and in the process the player also gets rewarded.
At the same time, this is not the first time that the young player has been recognized for his work. The quarterback also won the much coveted ‘Player of the Year Award’ by the Walter Camp Football Foundation for two successive seasons. Moreover, Colt McCoy is also one of the finalist for the prestigious Heisman Trophy. However, the list does not just end here as the talented player also took home the Davey O’Brien Award which gives recognition to the top quarterback of the country.
Meanwhile, the award did not came as a surprise as the quarterback had displayed impressive performances which enabled the Longhorns to register a 13-0 record this season. Moreover, the player also managed to grab immense attention as he delivered 27 touchdowns as well as threw for an amazing 3,512 yards.
The Maxwell award is given out annually in the memory of the much acclaimed football player and coach Robert W. Maxwell.
