London, Jan 21 (ANI): Ace striker Carlos Tevez has said that he is determined to finish off his former club and take Manchester City into their first major final in 29 years.
Tevez scored both goals in City’s 2-1 Carling Cup semifinal first leg at Eastlands on Tuesday to the delight of the home faithful and irritation of old boss Alex Ferguson.
The striker celebrated his second goal right in front of the dugouts with his ears cupped to the City fans’ adulation.
It was a point made to the Manchester United boss who turned a deaf ear to the Reds supporters’ cries of ‘Fergie sign him up’ throughout last season.
“That would be a dream in my first season at City. I know how much they love beating United that was very clear on Tuesday. They had to suffer earlier in the season when we lost in injury-time there and you saw what that meant to Sir Alex Ferguson and the United players in the way they celebrated,” The Sun quoted Tevez, as saying.
City has not been to a major final since losing the 1981 FA Cup final to Tottenham and not won a trophy at all since 1976 when they picked up the League Cup.
That is why the excitement is building towards the second leg and Tevez is so determined to do the business again for the City supporters. (ANI)
