Terrelle Pryor’s Quarterback Advance
August 12th, 2009 - 6:31 pm ICT by GD
The big smart quarter back of Ohio State is growing bigger. Pryor took his time to get into the leadership mode when he replaced senior co-captain Todd Boeckman just four games into the fall of 2008.
Ballard, one of the Buckeyes, says that Pryor demands a lot from them and they in turn demand a lot from Pryor. “TP’s not just looking for receivers to get the ball,” says Ballard, “He’s looking to tight ends running backs, fullbacks. If you’re open he’s going to hit you.” The success of Ohio State’s success depends on Pryor’s commitment to maturing into the quarterback that promised to shine.Talking about Pryor’s growth Ohio State’s head coach Tressel says, “Oh gosh, we are talking (Monday) after practice it was like catching two different people. (Monday) he probably got 40-50 percent of the reps. A year ago, he got maybe 12 percent of the reps, and he didn’t know anything to start with. It was amazing to watch his presence. Pryor, a freshman last year, was wooed by recruiters, yet he missed key passes in crucial matches.
It is said that Pryor is the fastest Buckeye quarterback with a timing of 4.33 at 235 pounds, faster than Pat White (4.55). Of the evolution of Pryor this summer safety man Kurt Coleman said, “He has to take the command and he has to be the leader and if you are not doing it right, he’s going to tell you what you are doing wrong until you correct yourself. Honestly, he’s improved his game so much.” Pryor never had any problem in getting noticed since he was in high school and he will be noticed even if Ohio State doesn’t live up to the expectations of its fans. The Buckeyes are in the preseason Top 10 for the seventh consecutive year and every one is waiting with their fingers crossed.
