Arlington, Sep 29 (THAINDIAN NEWS) The showstopper for the evening, Terence Newman returned an interception 27 yards for a lead-stretching touchdown with 5:07 still left, sending Dallas to a comfortable 21-7 victory over the Carolina Panthers on Monday night.

Dallas (2-1) trailed 7-0 at halftime and were thrashed verbally by fans. Although the defense was playing quite well and running backs Felix Jones and Tashard Choice were playing well and easing the load on Romo, the quarterback was being so careful to avoid the mistakes that doomed the Cowboys the previous week that the offense struggled to turn long drives into points.

The Kansas born Terence Newman is a current American football cornerback playing for the Dallas Cowboys in the National Football League.

In his rookie season Newman started in all the 16 games, making seventy-six tackles, one sack and four interceptions. Three of his interceptions came against the Washington Redskins, tying the team record for most picks in game. In the 2004 season, he started all sixteen games making 64 tackles and four interceptions.

In the 2005 season, Newman played in all 16 games making 59 tackles, one sack and three interceptions. Terence Newman was also considered by Bill Parcells as the best athlete on the roster.

Terence Newman
has also scored two touchdowns in his career. The first came in the final game of the 2006 season against Detroit, on a punt return. The second occurred on Thanksgiving Day 2007 against the New York Jets. Newman intercepted Kellen Clemens and returned it fifty yards for the score.
