Ahmedbad, March 24 (IANS) India’s batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar Thursday completed 18,000 runs in One-day Internationals (ODI) during the World Cup quarterfinal against Australia.
Tendulkar, who has 48 ODI hundreds, was 45 short of the milestone when he went into bat.
A single off Brett Lee to sweeper cover in the penultimate ball of the 14th over got him to the figure and soon, with a brace off the other
paceman Shaun Tait, he got his fifty off 61 balls.
Just as he looked well set to get to his 100th international century in his 627th match (177 Tests and 450 ODIs), he fell to Tait, caught behind for 53.
Tendulkar also has 51 Test centuries with more than 14,000 runs.
