nhl_logoJune 26, (THAINDIAN NEWS) The first four hours of the NHL Draft on Friday produced no big surprises. The Chicago Blackhawks picked Kevin Hayes with their 24th and were also due to pick 30th but traded that for the 35th and 58th pick with the New York Islanders. The first overall pick was Taylor Hall who went to the Edmonton Oilers and he was followed by Tyler Seguin who went to the Boston Bruins.

The 6′3″, 205 pound Kevin Hayes who has a total of 69 points and 25 goals for Noble and Greenough School in Dedham, Massachusetts, said that it had always been his dream to play for Chicago. He also added that his favorite players were Patrick Kane, Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keiths and he even tries to play like Jonathan Toews. The Chicago Blackhawks were the first team to talk to the player who was initially expected to be a 2nd round pick. He looked completely ecstatic as he walked in for the press interview.

Taylor Hall who was the first overall pick said that he was shocked when his name was called out. He stated that he was shaking as he went up on the podium and put on the jersey. Taylor Hall was expected to be the second pick after Tyler Seguin who was chosen to be the 2nd pick by the Central Scouting Bureau’s mid season evaluations. It was however reported that he overtook Taylor Hall in the final ratings. In spite of being the second pick Tyler Seguin said that he was happy to play for the Boston Bruins.
