Sydney, Feb 10 (IANS) Troubled Australian all-rounder Andrew Symonds will make his first appearance since Cricket Australia (CA) ruled him out for the series against South Africa.

Symonds will play for Queensland against Victoria in the Ford Ranger Cup at Melbourne Cricket Ground Wednesday.

Symonds’ was not considered for the tour of South Africa after CA slapped him with a fine of $4,000 for calling Brendon McCullum a ‘lump of s..t’

The 33-year-old has been recalled on the back of a slashing 137 off 117 balls at club level for the Gold Coast against Beenleigh last weekend.

Queensland coach Trevor Barsby said Tuesday Symonds could be poised to explode with the bat.

“He’d probably be disappointed with his record for Queensland in one-day cricket but, as we know, he is a destructive player, so you know what you are getting,” Barsby was quited as saying in the Australian media.

“He will bat at No. 4 or No. 5 for us and there is no reason why he can’t bowl for us as well. The medical people have given him the all-clear after his knee surgery.”
