Sydneys pink Test match for Jane McGrath’’s foundation fundraiser
January 2nd, 2009 - 12:30 pm ICT by ANIMelbourne, January 2 (ANI): Sydney Cricket Ground is set to witness a Pink Test match in a bid to raise funds for McGrath foundation, a charitable organisation dedicated to Breast Care Nurses in Australia.
Jane McGrath, who was known for her tremendous efforts as a cancer support campaigner, lost her battle with the deadly disease on June 22, 2008, leaving behind hubby Glenn and their two kids.
Aussie vice-captain Michael Clarke and fiance Lara Bingle showed their support for the cause by posing for pictures to promote her legacy - Sydney’’s “pink Test”, The Daily Telegraph reports.
Fans were being urged to help gather funds for breast cancer research by wearing a pink item or buying gold-coin-priced pink bandanas at the SCG.
“Jane was a wonderful lady. It is an honour to have known her,” News.com.au quoted Clarke as saying.
Bingle added: “The McGrath Foundation continues to do amazing work, and I hope cricket fans get behind it and buy the pink bandanas - I”ll be wearing mine.”
The match would see pink stumps with Clarke and other supporters putting pink stickers and grips on their bats. (ANI)
