Swimmers win best athlete awards at National Games
February 26th, 2011 - 11:10 pm ICT by IANSRanchi, Feb 26 (IANS) Swimmers Richa Mishra of Delhi and Maharashtra’s Veerdhawal Khade were awarded the best athlete awards at the closing ceremony of the 34th National Games here Saturday.Mishra got the award for winning 16 medals, including 11 gold, four silver and a bronze medal. Khade was adjudged the best male athlete for winning eight gold, two silver and two bronze medals.
Richa was honoured by Jharkhand Deputy Chief Minister and Sports Minister Sudesh Mahto. Veerdhawal was honoured by Chief Minister Arjun Munda.
Manipur was awarded for being the best state team in the Games. The state won a total of 118 medals, including 48 gold.
