Sutil, di Resta 14th and 15th fastest in Monaco qualifying
May 28th, 2011 - 10:45 pm ICT by IANSMonaco, May 28 (IANS) Force India’s Paul di Resta and Adrian Sutil will start from 14th and 15th on the grid in the Formula One Monaco Grand Prix here Sunday.
Red Bull’s Sebastian Vettel (1:13.556) set the fastest time in Saturday’s qualifying to claim his fifth pole in six races. McLaren’s Jenson Button (1:13.997) finished second while Vettel’s teammate Mark Webber (1:14.019) recorded the third fastest time in a session that was halted by over half hour after Sauber’s Sergio Perez crashed heavily in initial minutes of Q3.
India’s Narain Karthikeyan could not come out on the track as his Hispania suffered a suspension failure during the third practice session in the morning. His teammate Vitantonio Liuzzi could not set a time either with management opting to keep him in the pits following his crash during the practice that also involved Mercedes’ Nico Rosberg.
Karthikeyan and Liuzzi’s race participation will now be at the discretion of the race stewards, who are likely to take into account the time set by the drivers’ in practice.
Force India have their task cut out if they are to salvage their first point in four races on the 3.3 km street circuit where sharp corners make overtaking a tough ask for the drivers.
Rookie Di Resta (1:16.118) was again quicker than the seasoned Adrian Sutil (1:16.121), who impressed on the opening day of practice by clocking the eight and ninth fastest time.
