Mumbai/New Delhi, June 4 (ANI): Lok Sabha MP and daughter of Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar, Supriya Sule, on Friday stood by her statement that neither she nor her family members were involved in the bid for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchisees.

A media report had stated that she and her family hold 16 percent stake in the Pune-based construction company, City Corporation, which had made an unsuccessful bid for an IPL franchisee team in March.

“I stand by what I said that my family has nothing to do with any IPL team or the bidding process. City Corp has not directly done this. It was applied in the entire board. I have resolution to prove that the entire board had taken objection to that IPL team, said Sule.

Meanwhile, City Corporation’s Managing Director Aniruddha Deshpande on Friday said Pawar and his family had nothing to do with the IPL bidding.

“I am a minority shareholder. I have only 16 percent share in the company, 84 percent is held by other members. I am not a board member of this team and the entire board had objected to this bidding and they never made it to a team. So, I think whole thing is as crystal clear,” added Sule.

Earlier today, Sharad Pawar dismissed reports of his family’s involvement in the bid for IPL franchisees.

“Neither I nor my family is involved with any IPL team or with the bidding process,” said Pawar.”Whatever has been reported in the newspaper today was reported two months back also. At that time also I explained my position, which remains the same now. Neither me nor my family has direct or indirect involvement in any IPL team or in the bidding process,” he added.

He also reiterated that the IPL is clean and that there is nothing murky about the ownership patterns and financial transactions in the league.

“The government agencies are inquiring and anyone who has done anything wrong, will be punished,” he added. (ANI)
