Kolkata, Nov 14 (IANS) World No. 206 Sunitha Rao would be the top Indian draw in the Gujarat NRE Coke $50,000 ITF Women’s Challenger tennis tournament to be held Nov 17-22 at the Bengal Tennis Association Complex here.Isha Lakhani (319) and Ankita Bhambri (419) are the other Indians in the main draw that would fetch the singles winner 35 points and a cash prize of $7,315, while the runners up gets 25 points besides being richer by $3,990.
In doubles, the winning team gets 35 points, besides collecting $2,660, while the losing finalists have to be content with 25 points and $1,425.
Entries have come from 23 countries, with Melanie South (122) of Great Britan being the highest rated player, followed by Japanese Ayumi Morita (126) and Ye-Ra Lee (126).
The draw of 32 would include 24 direct entries, and four qualifiers besides four wild cards - Rushmi Chakravarthi (492), Sanaa Bhambri (506), Shikha Uberoi (710) and local girl Shivika Burman (1062).
The qualifiers would be played on the synthetic surface Sunday and Monday, the organisers said at a media meet.
