Suarez slapped with fine and ban for obscene gesture
December 29th, 2011 - 7:07 pm ICT by IANSLondon, Dec 29 (IANS) Liverpool forward Luis Suarez was slapped with a 20,000 pounds fine and a one-match ban by the English FA after he was photographed making an obscene gesture to Fulham fans following their 0-1 loss at Craven Cottage earlier this month.
The verdict comes just weeks after the Uruguayan was given an eight-match ban for racially abusing Manchester United left-back Patrice Evra.
“Luis Suarez will begin a one-match suspension with immediate effect after he admitted an FA charge of improper conduct in relation to the same game,” an FA statement read.
“Suarez was also fined 20,000 pounds and warned as to his future conduct following a gesture he made towards the Fulham fans at the end of the fixture.”
To start with, the striker will miss Liverpool’s Barclays Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Anfield Friday.
