Cincinnati, May 8, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Perhaps Chicago Cubs’ Starlin Castro could not have himself imagined that he is going to become a part of history when he got his first call for the Major League baseball game. The player reached the ground twelve hours later to become the youngest hero of the Chicago Cubs who went for a 14-7 win over the Cincinnati Reds due to the 6 crucial points added by him to the Chicago Cubs’ score. Starlin Castro on Friday night made many records and that too in his very debut game.
Starlin Castro at the age of 20 became a part of the Chicago Cubs’ history as the youngest shortstop to play for the Chicago Cubs team after Oscar Gamble who joined the Chicago Cubs team back in 1969 at the age of 19. On field, in the second inning, as he held the bat for the first time in the Major League, he hit Cincinnati Reds’ starting pitcher Homer Bailey hard with a three-run homer. This made him the sixth player in the Chicago Cubs team who has been able to make a homer in the first time up. However, the excitement did not stop there, in the fifth innings Starlin Castro went on to add to his team’s score a bases-loaded triple which went to the gap in right-center.
Starlin Castro’s six RBIs made him not only the new sensation in the team but also the only modern day baseball player who had been able to score six RBIs in the debut game. No doubt the player and the team management were happy to get this new Cub included in the Chicago Cubs team. If Starlin Castro himself was excited about the debut show, then the manager Lou Piniella was left speechless adding “The kid - what a debut!”
