This Tuesday night, St. Louis will be gearing up in order to witness the grand tribute, being paid to the legendary baseball player, Stan Musial.
The US President Barrack Obama is supposed to throw the first pitch, during the All-Star’s match at St. Louis. Apparently, Obama might have a tough task to follow as the spotlight will be entirely on Stan Musial, also known as Stan “The Man”. “Stan, he is the man. If you don’t know who Stan Musial is, you’re in the wrong sport,” exclaimed Cardinal’s baseball superstar, Albert Pujols. With President Obama lauding the tribute, it should be an honor for Stan. But in case, Stan has been there, done that.
Stan, who started off his baseball career in the year 1941, has bagged three MVP awards, seven battling titles, 3,630 hits, a .331 average, 1,951 RBI, went way ahead of his fellow baseball players, as he was inducted in the Baseball Hall Of Fame.
On the way to his glory, Stan Musial had come across world known figures like John F. Kennedy, Lyndon Johnson, Gerald Ford, Jimmy Carter, George H.W.Bush, George Bush, Bill Clinton and the likes. Musial had also been associated with several singers, actors, Pope John Paul and the Emperor of Japan.
“Talk about a living legend, he is a living legend. He’s an American icon and represents the Cardinal tradition in an absolutely magnificent way,” quipped baseball commissioner, Bud Selig.
Stan Musial, who was born in Donora, is also revered in Eastern Poland, which is his ancestral home, where ball fields are named in his honor. Bud Selig feels that the All-Star game which is to be held today, will witness one of the best tribute event since the classic tribute of Ted Williams in the year 1999.

What tribute..I was waiting all week for this grand emotional tribute to one of the greatest ball players of all time..in the greatest baseball city on earth..and the best MLB could do was drive him out to the field and have him hand the ball to the President. No video tribute, no time for the players to walk up and shake his hand..nothing like the tribute he deserved. MLB failed big time. SAD SAD SAD
