Oct 20 (THAINDIAN NEWS) A report posted in CTV Montreal tells of a brawl which broke out between at least a dozen St. Leonard Cougars and the spectators during the last few minutes of Sunday’s game which was held in Hamilton.

The president of the team stated that several of his players will be facing both team and league sanctions after the fight which occurred with only seconds left on the clock in the semi-final game of the Ontario Football Conference game.

Many fans who were sitting behind the Cougar’s bench had been heckling the players in abusive ways throughout the entire game, even throwing bottles and cans at the Cougars. When one of the crowd members hit the back of a player’s head with a can of beer, a dozen or so Cougars stood and marched into the stands, where there were 200 people, to fight back.

The team manager and coaches had already complained to the referees as well as to the opposing team about the lack of security, but they were told that there was no security available. The officials were said to have not respected the rules of the league which prohibits fans from being behind the bench of the visiting team.
