Sreesanth likely to play for Warwickshire
July 16th, 2009 - 6:21 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Kothamanagalam (Kerala), July 16 (IANS) India fast bowler Sreesanth is finalising a deal with Warwickshire to play in the forthcoming county season in England.
Speaking to a TV channel here Thursday at the conditioning camp of the probables of the state side, Sreesanth said the deal is almost done and he will be leaving for England in two months’ time but refused to name the county.
Speaking to IANS, a top Kerala Cricket Association ( KCA) official on condition of anonymity said he is closing the deal and it could be to play for Warwickshire.
“The permission from the Board of Control for Cricket in India has come and the finalisation of his deal is being done through the agents of the county,” said the KCA official, who also added the pacer could also captain the state side in the forthcoming domestic series.
Sreesanth has been in the news for more reasons than one and has run into trouble with his on-field aggressive behaviour.
He last played a one-day international for the country against Australia at Brisbane last March.
His last Test was against South Africa at Kanpur in April last year, following which he was bogged down by fitness problems.
Sreesanth since his one-day debut in October 2005 against Sri Lanka at Nagpur has played 41 matches and has taken 59 wickets for the country.
After a long lay-off he returned to play the last few matches for Kings XI Punjab in the second edition of the IPL that was played in South Africa.
