Sreesanth heads for English county, eyes return to Indian team
July 27th, 2009 - 3:55 pm ICT by IANS ( Leave a comment )Thiruvananthapuram, July 27 (IANS) Fast bowler S. Sreesanth, who has signed up for English county team Warwickshire to play in the ongoing season, hopes that he can make a comeback into the Indian cricket team through his stint in England.
“I am leaving for Warwickshire very soon and I am happy because it is mandatory to play four first class matches if one has to be eligible for selection for the Indian team. The domestic Ranji matches are only in October, so in Warwickshire I can play a lot of matches because cricket is played on all seven days,” said Sreesanth.
Sreesanth is also upbeat as the Warwickshire bowling coach is former South African speedster Allan Donald.
“He certainly was the world’s best fast bowler and now that I am going to play under him, it would be really exciting,” added Sreesanth.
Sreesanth last played a one-dayer for India against Australia in Brisbane March 2008.
His last Test match was against South Africa at Kanpur in April last year, following which he was bogged down by fitness problems. Sreesanth was Sunday named as the Kerala cricket team captain.
After a long lay-off he returned to play the last few matches for Kings XI Punjab in the second edition of the Indian Premier League played in South Africa.
