London, Oct.20 (ANI): The future of Tottenham Hotspurs coach and manager Juande Ramos maybe on the line in the wake of the team’’s recent defeat at Stoke, though Stoke boss Tony Pulis continues to hope that no drastic measure will be taken.
The Spaniard watched his nine-man team lose 2-1 at Stoke to confirm the clubs worst-ever start to a season.
Ramos, who has been a very successful coach for the past two decades, was quoted by The Sun as saying after the defeat over the weekend: Everything starts with me and I am worried.Im not happy, although it is difficult to explain what has happened, very complicated.”
Ill not say this is my worst experience because I have been a coach for 20 years and we all know bad things happen. But the attitude of my players is still very good and I am working hard every day to change things, he added.
Spurs are currently at the bottom of the Premier League table.
“I dont know if I will be speaking to my chairman this week. He is away on business at the moment and is very busy, Ramos said.
For his own sake, the Spaniard must hope Daniel Levy is not off on another secret mission to find Tottenhams next manager. It was just a year ago that Levy lined up Sevilles Ramos to take over from Martin Jol.
Pulis, however, has said that the Spurs should show some character and stick with Ramos.
Pulis said: They are in trouble and there is no hiding that fact. But I hope they stick with him. Its time the board showed a bit of character and backed him. We all know results are important and that if things dont go well you are going to be under pressure.”
The Spurs finished with nine men as Gareth Bale and sub Michael Dawson were sent off for tackles on Tom Soares and Mamady Sidibe respectively. Ramos also lost defender Vedran Corluka, who was carried off with a head injury after being whacked by his OWN keeper, Heurelho Gomes.
Spurs now travel to Udinese in the UEFA Cup on Thursday and face crucial league games against Bolton, Manchester City, Arsenal and Liverpool. The Londoners have yet to win in the Premier League and are bottom of the table with just two points.
Ramos, who has been hired on five million pounds a year until 2011, celebrates his first anniversary on Halloween. (ANI)
