Madrid, Jan 14 (IANS) Spanish Primera Liga side Sporting Gijon have landed Getafe striker Adrian Colunga on loan until the end of the season.

Colunga arrives to give more firepower to a Sporting Gijon that has slipped back to second from bottom of the table after a poor run of results. It will be his second spell at a club whose B-team he represented in the 2004-05 season, Xinhua reported.

Colunga is Sporting’s first signing of the winter transfer window and his move to Gijon ends a difficult season for the 27-year-old, who had fallen out of favour with Luis Garcia, the coach who took over at Getafe last season.

The Asturian born forward returns to his homeland having scored eight goals in 29 appearances for Getafe last season after a move from Recreativo Huelva. He also previously enjoyed a loan spell at Real Zaragoza in the 2009-10 campaign, netting 7 goals in 16 appearances and forming a key part of Zaragoza’s climb off the bottom of the table.

Bottom of the table Zaragoza have also moved to strengthen their squad and have signed well-travelled striker Carlos Aranda on loan from Levante.
