Spinners McGain, Hauritz could play Cape Town Test: Hussey

Cape Town (South Africa), Mar.18 (ANI): Australia batsman Mike Hussey says spinners Nathan Hauritz and Bryce McGain are under consideration for Thursday’’s third Test against South Africa in Cape Town.
Leg-spinner McGain, 36, was set to make his Test debut in India last October but was sent home for shoulder surgery and has been overlooked for the Johannesburg and Durban Tests on the South African tour because of pitches that favoured the fast bowlers.
Hauritz, an off-spinner who was part of Australia’’s winning side in the third Test against the Proteas in Sydney in January, has also failed to play a Test on the tour so far.
Australia lead the three-match series 2-0 and with the Newlands pitch appearing to offer more assistance to the slow bowlers than in the earlier two Tests, it’’s an opportunity for selectors to blood McGain ahead of the Ashes series starting in July in Cardiff.
“It (the pitch) is quite bare at the end so it looks like it might take a bit of turn,” the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Hussey, as saying on Tuesday.
“I”m sure the selectors will have to take a good look at that. Either Nathan or Bryce will definitely come into calculations but whether they”ll get the nod or not, I”m not sure,” he added. (ANI)
