Spine Injury Leaves Rutgers University Player Eric LeGrand Paralyzed

ritgerOct 19, (THAINDIAN NEWS) Rutgers University football player Eric LeGrand has been left paralyzed below his neck after attempting to make a tackle during his team’s showdown against the Army on Saturday at the New Meadowlands Stadium. Following the incident during the game, the player was immediately rushed to a New Jersey based medical facility and was kept at the intensive care unit.

A statement that was subsequently released by the athletic department of Rutgers University read that the junior defensive tackle has suffered a major injury to the C3 and C4 level of the spinal cord due to which he is not being able to show any movement from below his neck. After Eric Legrand was hospitalized at the Hackensack University Medical Center on Saturday, an emergency operation was immediately conducted on him to stabilize his spine which has received significant injuries. However, the hospital authorities have refused to divulge details about the present condition of the Rutgers University player as per patient privacy laws. While talking about the condition of Eric Legrand, Greg Schiano, who is the head coach of the Scarlet Knights revealed that despite his injuries the junior defensive tackle is in high spirits while expressing hope that he would be able to fully recover from the injuries.

Eric LeGrand sustained serious injuries to his spine during the fourth quarter of Saturday’s game when he collided with Army’s Malcolm Brown. The much-acclaimed player immediately collapsed to the ground where he lay motionless until the paramedics present at the stadium rushed to his aid. Later, it was confirmed that Eric LeGrand was paralyzed from below his neck.
